About Us
Sydney Bible-Presbyterian Church was established in Sydney in June of 1997 at a sister’s home in Pymble. The congregation initially comprised of about 25 regular worshippers. A year after that we out grew the space and moved to a Community centre located at the suburb of Gordon. In the year 2000, through God’s grace, we were able to purchase a property at 40 Stanbury Street, Gladesville. Extensive renovations were done to completely transform an old building to a new multi-functional building to meet the needs of the growing congregation. Thank God for His provision and the honour for setting granting the members the opportunity to serve Him in this suburb.
Sydney BP Church is a Bible-believing church belonging to the “reformed faith” as expressed in the Westminster Confession of Faith. Our church is a Christ-centred church believing that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God, conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary and truly God and truly Man. We hold to the doctrine of biblical separation from the present-day apostasies of ecumenism and charismatism.
The Constitutional objectives for our Church are:
- Salvation of souls
- Edification of Christians through the teaching of God's Word
- Promotion of godly worship
- Defence of "the faith which was once delivered unto the saints"
- Establishment and extension of Christian missions and institutions for the furtherance of God's Kingdom on earth
- Strengthening of mutual fellowship, encouragement and unity among individual Bible-Presbyterian Churches affiliated to the Bible-Presbyterian Church of Singapore and among other Bible-believing churches of similar stand "for the Word of God, and for the testimony of Jesus Christ"
Presently, Sydney BP Church is led by the Session (comprising of the resident Pastor and three Deacons). The services of the Church are organised to meet the following purposes:
- Worship – To honour and glorify God
- Discipleship – To build up believers in the grace and in the knowledge of Jesus Christ
- Fellowship – To foster Christ-like relationships encouraging members to care for each other
- Evangelism – To witness to those who are outside God’s kingdom
- Ministry – To enable believers to serve the one true living God
